Hi there, i read your blog occasionally and i own a similar one and i was just curious if you get a lot of spam comments? If so how do you stop it, any plugin or anything you can advise? I get so much lately it's driving me insane so any support is very much appreciated.

dead right jeff. All of south canty was out for a full day last year due to a line failure and it didn't rate a mention.
And don't believe the banks third world hype. Sydney central had 3 significant failures over the last year or so.

Isn't the bigger issue here that the only apparent response to these mainly management failures is chucking more money at it. Isn't cutting trees cheaper than building new lines?

I find it amusing that Aucklanders still believe they are the only ones who experience power cuts.
Here in the South Island we get just as many and sometimes for a lot longer.
Emotive terms like "the engine room of the economy" might resound with all your north of the Bombay Hill readers but if you are running dairy farms [ real powerhouses of the economy] and your power is cut off for 8 days due to snow you might have something to complain about.
Yet interestingly neither the Auckland media or blogs ever seem to get around to mentioning this.
